State health officials urge patients not to drink soda after report
— State health officials have issued a warning to health care workers about drinking soda in public, following reports of people vomiting and getting sick after consuming it in the Capitol.
“If you’ve had any type of health issue, please do not drink soda,” state health officials said in a news release Tuesday.
“We want to ensure the public has safe access to health services.”
State health director Jeff DeRieck said people in the building where the Capitol is located should avoid eating in restaurants and restaurants should not serve people.
The Capitol is closed, but the state has ordered restaurants and bars not to serve food and beverages to the public for a 24-hour period starting Monday.
The Capitol is open to the general public.
